Workshop "Biologie synthétique" avec le CRI

Un premier retour de notre workshop du vendredi 14 mars dans le laboratoire du CRI à Cochin. Article original réalisé par les community managers du CRI consultable iciPrésentation finale des projets des jeunes biologistes et designers le mardi 18 mars à 18h dans les locaux du CRI, 10 rue Charles 5 à Paris. what syn bio could do ?
ex : fuel from sugar with bacteria (not possible until now), producing drugs, cancert therapies, new materials (bacteria can made monomere), gene therapies, bioremediation (make better bacteria to degrade toxical products), biosensors, reprogram microflora, improved crops, cosmectics
Connection between synthetic biology and design: 
-from synthetic biologists point of view : design systems as genetic circuit, creating new proteins by rational design
similarity between genetic circuits and electronic circuits
designing organism = DNA synthetised and inserted in a micro-organism.
-from design: design objects easy to use, sustainable, practical, eco-friendly + imposed constraints (—> very similar between syn bio and design regarding objectives and constraints) + creativity !
Syn bio as a new area of design : “synthetic aesthetics” group

-equipment = sweat, watch to measure your feelings
ex: watch with several electrods measuring the level of stress, excitation etc
-cream to replace a part of your microbiome
-white sweat shirt on which some colours appear and change according to combination bacteria/fibers.
Sense team
-biosensor which detects smells linked to fear
you can feel what other people feel (you can turn it off)
Identity team
-the bio-meetic project = 
you are sexually attract to people which are the opposite of you in terms of immune system. This is linked to the odours of people.
So, collect DNA and odors sample = crowdsourcing (theft ou legaly way to do that!)
Establish the correlation.
Sell the perfect perfume to a client allowing him to seduce the girl/man he wants.

-a symbiotic pet
ex: a living organism (plants, animals) protects you to bugs (mosquitos etc)  you’re sensitive to. He can destroy them for example
